“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.”

— Laurell K. Hamilton, Mistral’s Kiss

Trauma Recovery

Do you find yourself caught in the grip of past experiences, struggling to move forward, or feeling hesitant to trust others and fully relax into a sense of safety? Trauma—whether stemming from a single overwhelming event or the accumulation of distress over time—can deeply impact your ability to cope, connect, and feel at ease in your own body. It may manifest as persistent anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, or difficulties in relationships, making everyday life feel like an uphill battle.

Although recovery is absolutely possible, it’s important to recognize that healing from trauma is not always straightforward. Current research shows that traditional talk therapy, while beneficial for some, may not fully address the ways trauma is stored in the body and nervous system. In fact, repeatedly telling your story can sometimes feel overwhelming or even re-traumatizing. That’s why I integrate gentle, body-mind approaches—such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Self-Regulation Therapy—alongside compassionate, attuned support.

These evidence-based therapies help you process and release trauma’s lingering effects, supporting your nervous system to return to a state of calm and safety. EMDR, for example, uses guided bilateral stimulation to facilitate the brain’s natural healing processes, while Self-Regulation Therapy draws on somatic practices to gently resolve stored tension and emotional pain. These modalities do not require you to relive every detail of your trauma—instead, they focus on restoring a sense of control, trust, and resilience from the inside out.

In our work together, you’ll be met with patience, understanding, and respect for your unique pace. I’ll provide education about the effects of trauma, teach you practical grounding and self-soothing strategies, and offer a safe, supportive environment where you can reclaim your sense of wholeness. Healing is a journey, and you don’t have to walk it alone—let’s collaborate to create the changes you seek and nurture the hope that a brighter future is possible.

I am a contracted mental health provider with both the Critical Incident Response program (WorkSafe BC) and ICBC. This means I have specialized experience supporting individuals who have been exposed to workplace trauma or motor vehicle accidents and can help you navigate the unique challenges these situations can bring.

If you have recently been in a car accident, you may be eligible for counselling services covered by ICBC. I understand that the aftermath of an accident can be physically and emotionally overwhelming and accessing support shouldn’t add to your stress. I can guide you through the process of seeking assistance, ensuring you feel informed, empowered, and cared for every step of the way. If you’re curious about your options or ready to take the first steps toward healing, please don’t hesitate to reach out—sometimes, taking a leap of faith is the first step toward reclaiming your well-being.
