EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a psychotherapy technique designed to help people process and recover from traumatic experiences. It uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral rhythmic stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories, making them less upsetting. This approach is often used to treat conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and aims to help individuals heal emotionally by changing the way traumatic memories are stored in the brain.
Bilateral stimulation may also be implemented to reinforce internal resources. Commonly known as Resource Tapping, this technique can serve as an accessible daily practice for regulating the nervous system.
EMDR is a proven therapeutic method that should be applied with sound clinical judgement. I utilise this technique selectively and only following a thorough evaluation of each case.
