Parts of Self / Ego State Approaches
Ego state therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and working with different parts or “states” of a person’s personality. These states can represent various feelings, memories, or roles, and the therapy aims to help individuals understand, integrate, and resolve inner conflicts for greater emotional well-being.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a related approach that views the mind as made up of distinct “parts,” each with its own perspectives and intentions. In IFS, clients learn to connect with their core “Self,” which can guide and heal these parts, encouraging harmony and healing within the person. Both therapies help people gain insight into their inner world and foster self-compassion, making it easier to navigate emotional challenges.
