About Me

heather rennieI am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a Registered Couple and Family Therapist (RMFT) with the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am an approved clinical supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches. Together, we will find the approach that works best for you.

I have close to 30 years of experience working in both community and hospital-based settings. For over a decade, I  worked at a local cancer agency. I have been touched by the stories of many who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their loved ones and friends. I know well the grief and loss that comes with living with a serious illness, and facing death up close.

On a more personal note, I am a wife and a mother of two sons. I continually balance the demands of work and family. As a woman of the “sandwich generation”, I also juggle the needs of aging parents with the needs of my children. In my lived experience, I have known the shadows of grief and loss. I can meet with you in the dark places of life, and help shine a light on the path.

I am in no way perfect, and continue to strive to be the person I want to be every day. However, I do have a deep compassion and empathy for others. I listen with my whole heart. I would be honoured to take the next step with you as you move towards wholeness.

Mission

My mission is to provide affordable, high quality counselling services to you whether you are an individual, a couple, a family, or a senior- regardless of your cultural or family background. My promise is to listen to you with care, compassion and an open, non-judgmental heart. Together, we will talk about the small steps that you can take to make things even just a little bit better. My belief is that you are already taking a “leap of faith” by having the wisdom and courage to seek help.

Vision

As an experienced and trained Clinical Counsellor and Couple and Family Therapist, I serve the clients with whom I work by offering goal-focused, strength-based counselling. I celebrate the small and big changes my clients make towards wholeness. I believe that this journey is worth it.

Values

I provide a non-judgmental and confidential environment.
Every person has value.
Wholeness is possible.
Meaningful connection is important.
Building on strengths and celebrating the change that is already happening.
